This is a terrible idea.
In a startling move that is bound to bring controversy and attention to the struggling National Premier Soccer League club, FC New York on Saturday announced that it will wear shirts that will feature presidential candidate Mitt Romney on the front of their game jerseys.
FC New York is scheduled to meet the New York Red Bull Under-23 team at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
According to a press release that was released on Saturday morning, the club said it “was pleased to announce it will feature presidential candidate Mitt Romney on the front of our kits for the balance of the year.”
It is believed to be the first time an American soccer team’s game jerseys supported the election of a presidential candidate.
